Went at 5:50pm on monday. Archanai counter opens at 6pm but you can still enter the temple to walk around and familiarize. My mum brought me when I was a kid and the revisit felt good. Peaceful. Durgai Amman was looking so beautiful. Can just keep looking at her ❤️
Most convenient temple to patong pasir residence & getting a well-deserved renovation. Many of the dieties have own engagements & priests are busy ascertaining their prayers are met.
This is a place of worship for Hindus. It's very crowded on Tuesdays as the day is auspicious for the goddess Durga.
Lovely and nice works on pillars and entrance. I normally visit on Thursdays.
Very devine feel. Visited on the occasion of Navaratri.
Special arrangements and pooja. Nice feel.
Shri Siva Durga temple is near Potong Pasir MRT Station.
The temple, which has been at the Potong Pasir location since the 1980s, was torn down for reconstruction in 2014 because of issues such as water leakage and complaints on the lack of space and ventilation.
Only a sculpture of Hindu goddess Sri Durga was retained in its original spot during the $2.7 million rebuilding efforts. Her sanctum was encased in bricks as the new temple was built around it.
"We received numerous requests by devotees to retain her so we put in reinforcements and ensured that vibrations were minimal to prevent damage during the building process," said Mr Krishnamurthi.
During the upgrading, devotees could still worship its other deities, as well as a smaller version of Sri Durga, at a temporary space within the compound.
Currently devotees are expected to enter from the left side of the gate following COVID-19 safety measures. They can then join the queue for getting prayer slips for a dollar or two.
They then proceed to the temple and offer their prayers.
Food items offerings can be bought for dollar two or three inside the temple.
Consumption of food is not allowed inside the temple.
